One of the most frustrating and subtle strategies of playing poker is through the handling and play of these range of hands that actually are badly overrated by amateurs and beginning players. They are referred to as trap hands because they appear as a premium hand but they are actually really just high suited or unsuited connectors that most players aren’t aware of.

The beginning player will be dealt King-Queen and will likely think, “Oh, sweet this is just like Big-Slick.” They could not be more wrong. Great players that want to play tight, smart poker probably do not even have king-queen on their list of starting hand requirements and if they do it’s in very late table position. These hands need to be treated similarly to 9-8s, 10-9s and other suited connectors, the only difference is that they are high in card rank but do not make the mistake of playing them like a premium hand because they are not.

Let us look at a quick example. You are dealt K-Q suited, which by most is the highest rated “trap” hand, and call another player’s raise (this player was located under the gun, directly left of the big blind and the raise was 3x the big blind). This raise was called by you who sat in 2nd position directly left of the raiser. The first mistake was calling a raise with this hand in early position, when a player raises in early position they are indicating a tremendous amount of strength and poker theory states that to call their raise you need a hand of equal or better strength.

The rest of the players fold and the flop reveals: K-J-5. You flopped top pair with second kicker and you are most certainly ahead! You can’t be so sure just yet. So you call the original bettor down to showdown and he reveals A-K and you lose the pot. That is the problem with entering pots with trap hands, because most beginners play them like premium hands so they enter pots against premium hands that have them hopelessly crushed.

For a more in-depth (3000 words to be exact) explanation of playing trap hands as well as over 10,000 words of other free poker strategy as well as much more please take a look at Mega-Poker.Net – Poker Strategy, Resources, Tips & Much More.

If you are a blackjack player, you need to know the truth about the game. The pros certainly do, and so will you by reading below.

Don’t believe the eight blackjack myths below…and you can start winning money, like the pro’s do

Here are the common eight blackjack myths

Myth #1: The Object of Playing Blackjack in getting as close to 21 as you can

The real aim of playing blackjack is just to beat the dealer. That’s it.

So, your best advice here is to stand when you get a good idea of what the dealer has by his open card. The truth is you often lose because you hit and bust when you had to just stand and wait.

Myth # 2: If there is a lousy player in the game, he will makes it easier for you to lose.

Not so! It can be the other way around. He can make it easier for you to win! Lousy playing (like hitting at 20) can certain affect the other players, but you know, it might be for the best.

Concentrate on your hand, and forget about other lousy players.

Myth #3 : Insurance is a something you MUST take.

Don’t believe a word of it! Taking insurance unless you know what you are doing is idiotic. It can reduce your winnings (if you hit a blackjack) by 13%!

If you happen to be a blackjack expert, a great card counter, and have a really good idea of what the dealer has in his hand, Insurance is for you. Otherwise, leave it alone.

Myth #4: My Turn to Win is Coming!

Your turn? Nothing could be more untrue.

There is no turn to win in blackjack.

The odds and chances for each deal are unique and winning or losing before is irrelevant. Statistically, if you sat at the table for about 100 straight hours you would win about 48% of your hands if you did not make ANY mistakes.

So forget about your turn, and concentrate of what to do to win.

Myth #5: New Comers in the Game are Bad Luck

Another fairy tale!

So what if someone enters the game while it’s been on for a while?

The new player will take cards, and it is no more of an affect that if you others were just hitting. There is no statistics or anything in my experience that says a new player makes the slightest bit of difference.

Myth #6:. The Dealer is Hot Tonight!

Rubbish! A dealer simply follows set rules and makes no choices

All they can do is follow the rules of the game and house. They have no options and no choices. If you are losing, the cards are against you, and if you are winning they are for you. The hot dealer is a myth.

Myth #7: Never split your double 9s against the dealer’s 9

Feel like splitting? We assume you were dealt two 9s against the dealer’s 9. You have 18, right? Well, if the dealer has a face card hidden, and you can assume he does, you lost with your 18.

So split! My experience and math says you will lose less money by splitting than if you don’t.

Myth #8: The Dealer’s Best Open Card is a 2!

Even experienced players believe this one, as an open 2 is often part of a dealer’s way to 21.

Well, if the open card is a 2, and the dealer has a hidden face card, there is only 1 card that can bust him, or a hit of another face card. The truth? You will lose most often if the dealer’s open card is a face card, not a 2!

With the truth you can play blackjack without falling for common myths that will make you lose

Remember, all you have to do is beat the dealer, not get as close to 21 as you can and dont believe in luck So good luck and good play.

When I first started to learn the game of chess, I bought a cheap chess playing computer from Radio Shack. I was pretty good at the novice level, but when I moved the setting up a notch or two, I soon realized just how poorly I really played. I never won a game. That was 30 years ago. Computers have come a long way since then.

I mention this because it ties in with an article I recently read about a poker playing Bot. (A poker bot is computer program written to play online poker.) Before I get into that, let me tell you about an experience I had several years ago. A gentleman stopped by my computer store one morning and asked me if I could get him the fastest computer on the market. Then he told me that when an even faster one comes along, he’d buy that one too.

I asked him what he was going to use it for (So I’d know how to set it up.) and he was very hesitant in answering me. Finally, he invited me to his house, saying it would be easier for him to show me than to explain what he was doing.

When I got there, I found two computers setting side by side. One was state-of-the-art, the other was just an average system. After much him-hawing, he finally told me that he was making a ton of money playing Backgammon on the Internet. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn’t.

Here’s what he was doing. He was entering high-stakes online Backgammon tournaments that paid big bucks to the winner. He had an edge. He had purchased a world class Backgammon program and was running it on the “fast” computer while he played the tournament on the slower computer. He would duplicate the ‘live’ game, move by move on the “fast” system, and it would analyze the board positions and tell him what move to make next. Because time was at a premium, he needed the fastest computer he could get to do the analysis. I was amazed.

In the last few years, Texas Hold’em, not Backgammon has become the game of choice. It’s estimated that as many as 2 million Texas Hold’em players ante up online each month. The PPA (Poker Players Alliance) has over 1,000,000 registered members in the United States. I’d guess that most of these players figure their odds of winning online are about the same as if they would be if they were playing in a physical casino. That may not be the case.

One problem when doing anything on the Internet is that you can never be sure of who or “what” you might be doing it with. That’s true with chat lines, messaging services, and now, even fellow poker players. There are poker bots you can purchase on-line that are specifically programmed to play ‘limit’ Texas Hold’em. They analyze the game in real time. They know the ‘percentage of winning’ as the hand unfolds. They don’t get tired and make mistakes, they play using the most powerful poker strategies available including pot-odds, and they need ‘no’ human intervention at all. Some of them can even play up to eight tables at the same time.

Bots are outlawed in almost every online casino. But because they are so hard to detect, my guess is…many of them are playing right now and the other players at the table have no clue as to what they’re up against! Remembering my experience with the chess computer…I doubt I’d stand a chance against a poker bot. Not in the long run. Of course, they don’t win all the time. There’s still a lot of luck involved in any card game. But if I were a betting man, I’m afraid I’d have to bet on the bot.

I quit a very good job as a Finance Director with a large pharmaceutical company to be able to take advantage of these benefits. I moved to “New Zealand for a couple of years and enjoyed a nice relaxing life. I am now back in the states and have the flexibility to live wherever I want. The great thing about Internet poker is that I can work around my social life rather than plan my social life around work. It is a good life.

As with any job, playing poker for a living is not all fun and games. Playing 10 hours a week can be a lot of fun and be a great hobby; however, the fun and thrill of playing poker is not quite the same once you start playing 40 hours a week in front of a computer. I still have a passion for the game and enjoy playing most of the time, but this is definitely not something I will want to do for many years full-time. I am starting to look for other ways to add to my income (like writing this book and real estate); so that I can start reducing the hours of poker I play each week.

THE REAL BUSINESS

Let’s look at some of the practical downsides to playing poker for a living. Although it is great to have as many vacation days as you want, these vacations days are not paid! I always enjoyed four weeks of vacation before with my finance job, but it is quite different when you know that no income is coming in while you are away. If you do decide to play for a living, I recommend setting aside some vacation pay each month just like a regular job. This way you can feel like you are being paid and enjoy your vacation without worrying about money.

There are also some additional expenses for being self-employed. American residents must pay full FICA and Medicare payments, which is 15.3% of your salary up to certain limits, rather than the 7.65% you pay when working for a company. You must also pay for medical and dental insurance.

Remember also that gambling income is taxable in the United States just like regular income, even if you play part-time. If you are an American citizen and move overseas, you are able to deduct over $80,000 a year from your income since you are not residing in the States. This effectively eliminates most income tax, but you still must pay the FICA and Medicare taxes.

Obviously, poker has some inherent risks that are part of the job. You will have an unstable income each month, with the risk of actually losing money during a month. If you recall from the “Bankroll Management” chapter, it is possible to play many hours and still lose as an expert player. To play professionally, you need to be the type of person that can handle these fluctuations. Although they shouldn’t happen too frequently, they will occur, and believe me they are not much fun .

How much can you earn playing poker on the Internet?

This all depends on the number of hours and tables you play in addition to the limit. You can also earn more in most short-handed games than you can in ring games. Of course, your hourly rate will depend on how good you are. When looking at hours, remember to account for lunch breaks and any other distractions that might occur during the day. Playing eight solid hours of poker a day can be quite tiring, especially when playing multiple tables.

Let’s look at some possible scenarios. If you can work seven hours a day playing $10-$20 and earn one big bet an hour, you would earn $700 a week. If you work 48 weeks a year, you will earn $33,600 at $10-$20. If you are able to play two tables half the time you are playing, you could increase this to $50,400, assuming you maintain the same earn rate per hour at both tables. You would earn $25,200 playing $5-$10 or over $100,000 playing $20-$40. You could earn more if you can manage a win rate even better than one big bet per hour.

Once you estimate a projected income, remember to deduct the additional expenses such as Social Security and medical insurance to arrive at a net income estimate. I earned over $100,000 my first twelve months playing full-time at limits of mostly $20-$40 and $15-$30. A six-figure income is possible, but be sure to account for the downsides of the jo b.

Pocket Aces are like being launched off the deck of an aircraft carrier. Your going 0-150mph in three seconds. Then you slow down to the point that you feel as if you will fall out of the sky. Until you realize it is just the natural acceleration of the plane taking over lifting you higher and, higher.

There are some who may contend that AK suited is as good a starting hand as the Pocket Aces. The odds of AA pre-flop are 1 in 221. Odds of AK suited are 1 in 332. Even though it is much more rare that you will receive AK suited pre-flop it pales in comparison to the raw power of the pocket Aces. According to Harrington pocket Aces will win heads up against any two cards about 85% of the time and, will beat any smaller pocket pair about 82%. If you opponent has connectors, suited connectors or, suited cards your odds drop to about 73%.

Betting the pocket Aces pre-flop can be difficult. You should raise enough to discourage opponents who might be on a straight or, flush draw but, not so much as to give away the strength of you hand. If you are in good position, the button or, cut off a raise or, re-raise of 3.5x to 4x big blind should be enough to isolate opponents and possibly even take down the pot pre-flop. However, in early UTG or, middle positions a larger bet 6x-10x big blind maybe necessary to take down a pot pre-flop. Depending on your stack size and, your opponents’ tendencies pushing all in is generally a good move from the small, big blind. A good hand in bad position is often worse than a poor hand in good position.

Pocket Aces are always the best hand pre-flop. After the flop it becomes important to know when to get away from them. If you are forced to call an all in pre-flop and, your opponent sucks out at least you can take comfort in knowing that you got your money in good. Even though this may not be much consolation. You should know that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. If you’re playing a solid game the odds and, luck will eventually swing your way moving you forward.

Poker is a game that takes a few minutes to learn and, a lifetime of experience to master. Pocket Aces can be can be one of the most problematic hands to play because it is so hard for the average player to lay down. Remember that even though you have the nuts pre-flop, on the flop or, on the turn it does not mean you will have the nuts on the river. When you learn when to lay down the big pocket pairs you will have mastered a part of the game that will raise your play to a new level. If you have KK on the first hand at the WSOP and, Phil Ivey says “Let’s gamble” and, pushes all in, fold. He isn’t bluffing.

Gladiators.
Mathematical developments of the game pioneers and creation of simple and efficient counting systems incited the appearance of a great galaxy of professional players and experts of blackjack.

Revere invented a new simple counting system and first described the method of reducing the current score to the real one. Stanford Wong amplified and improved Hi-Lo system, and also developed the Halves system. Lance Humble, Brison, Gordon, Harvey Dubner, – all these giants made a great contribution to the development of the methods of the game.

In late 70s the professional gambler Al Francesco, probably created the first blackjack team in history. He hired the enthusiasts, taught them Lawrence Revere’s counting system and sent them to play. He invented and put into practice the principle of “BIG PLAYER” – when the part of the team is humbly playing low and some drunken and wealthy fish makes high bets on the given signals.

Ken Uston also belonged to this team. Uston was the vice president of fund stock exchange at that time. However after meeting Revere he quitted the stock exchange and changed his strict outfit for magnificent bush of hair, golden chains and silk shirts with huge collars in the style of that time.

Uston played for Francesco’s team for quite a long time and with varied success, but his ego did stand it under the pressure of his own ego. He had a very high opinion of himself and wanted to be the first in everything. He left Francesco and wrote several books about his adventures. The books simply exploded the gambling world.

The book “BIG PLAYER” revealed the secrets of team game. The Book “Million Dollar Blackjack” is stuffed with unbelievable stories in intervals explaining the technical aspects also presents different cards counting systems. Uston made people believe that one can beat casino playing blackjack. Win a lot. Millions of dollars. Also everyone found out how casinos react to the professional gamblers – slams, insinuations, blacklists, crooked gambling, false accusations. Uston was in the blacklists all over the world, having won with his several teams about 8 million dollars.

By the way, Al Francesco and many other players are still dissatisfied with Uston’s actions who decided to publish the methods of the game which were then available only to the few. But Uston would not be himself if he had not done it.

The next outburst of his popularity was in early 80s, when Ken won the case against a casino in New Jersey (Resorts International Hotel Inc.). Since then no casino of this state (unlike, for example, Las Vegas in Nevada ) is not eligible to prohibit playing to person who can count cards. On the other hand, this verdict made the rules in Nevada much worse than in Vegas.

The next wave of the struggle between the casino and counters relates to Uston’s era. The casinos understood, that well-financed team of pros can cause great losses. And then the multidecked games, frequent riffle were coming into fashion and several good rules just died away. There appeared special detective agencies who spied on the professional players, collected the necessary information about them and distributed it among the casinos.

Uston created new methods of the game, used makeup, recruited more and more people in his teams and started playing abroad. He also was writing new books, was starring on TV, was writing new articles, was developing new counting systems. By the way Ken, wrote the book on optimal game strategy for Pac-Man (arcade video game). It’s a video game not for money, he was just interested in it.

One of the most scandalous Kenny’s projects was creating the team against the casino with using the computer. They used hidden on the body and in the shoes micro chips that calculated the current situation in the game more precisely than any other “human” strategy and gave the necessary signals to the player. His teams almost broke several casinos, but in a while they were caught, arrested and accused of fraud, the computer was confiscated. However, the experts including FBI experts, proved that there was no fraud and the accusations were withdrawn. In two weeks the Supreme Court of the USA of Nevada State made the usage of computing devices in casinos illegal….

Kenny was a good guy, the heart of the company, first class jazz musician, loved by women and press. He had great plans on making a film, writing new books, arranging one more trial, and surely new projects on blackjack. His life was suddenly interrupted in 1983 and the version that casinos are privy to his death is not cast back yet.

If you want to be a great Texas hold’em player you need to know how to read your opponents like the back of your hand. You should be able to tell when they are bluffing and when they have an unbeatable hand. There are a few tips that a Texas hold’em player should keep in mind.

One of the first things to remember is that the two cards that you are holding should be the only two cards that you use to evaluate your chances of winning. Also, remember that all of the face-up cards are the community cards. This means that these cards are shared by you and the other players. Keep your eyes on an open opportunity for one of your opponents to get a flush or a straight. When you are evaluating your cards you should be careful not to reveal anything with a facial expression or another type of reaction. You should keep your motions and expressions neutral. The other players will trying t judge what type of hand you have by your reaction.

Another important tip is to not be afraid to cut your losses. So many players will decide to platy out a bad hand. If it isn’t in the cards then you should get out before you are in the hole. Remember that you strategy is based on the two cards that are in your hand. If your two cards are duds do not be afraid to walk away. If you would like to learn more about Texas hold’em tips and strategies there are several online websites that deal with this type of poker game. Many of the websites offer tips based on the category of player you are. Tips for a novice will differ from an expert. Texas hold’em is a game of skill.

Playing blackjack is not a difficult task when you know certain rules and strategies. When you play online the computer program will usually inform you of your next betting choices. This makes it easier to play and learn for a beginner. Online sites often have special rules you need to follow so make sure to research and read all you can at a site before taking the plunge and registering.

There are four basic strategies that you need to master will before your start playing casino blackjack. The basic blackjack has a set of hit/stand rules and betting which leads you to winning. Patience and perseverance go a long way to make you a good casino blackjack player.

There are four basic rules which help you to increase your chances of win. They will definitely give you an edge over the others once you have mastered them. They are

a) If the dealer’s face up card is 7 or higher keep drawing more cards till your hand reaches 17at least or higher at hard count and 18 or higher at soft count.

b) If the dealer is showing low cards of 6 or lower, draw cards only till you reach 12 or higher.

c) If the dealer shows 9 or lower, double down if you have 10 or 11 in total from your first two cards.

d) If you want to split only use 8s and Aces. No other pairs should be split.

Your goal in playing blackjack should be to keep on improving. Only then you can become a good casino blackjack player. Mathematical strategies and basic principles of blackjack do not change much but you can acquire better skill at the game. This is what will actually lead you to win at blackjack.

To become a good casino blackjack player one should keep a few tips in mind:

1) You must practice the basic blackjack strategy once a year. This is important because fundamentals of the game remain unchanged. So mastering the fundamentals and basic strategy is the foundation of your game.

2) Play your game at 5 different casinos because each place will offer you different table conditions. This will challenge the mind and will offer flexibility and experience.

3) Read books on blackjack so that you learn new tricks of the game. You also pick up what not to do in a game.

4) If you really want to become a good player stop playing blackjack online. Live blackjack is quite different. Online cards cannot be counted.

5) Get to teach blackjack to some friends or relatives. This way you can improve your own game. Teaching forces you to think about the game and improve.

To improve your game even more, you can write about blackjack or spend some time reading articles about the game play. Another way to improve would be to play at stakes higher or lower than you would usually play. Important fact is to know your betting limit. This will discipline your mind and teach you to remain calm.

If you are a poker aficionado and want to enjoy the wonderful experience of playing the game with your family and friends, then there are certain poker supplies that you cannot escape while buying all the required resources for your much awaited evening game! Following given is a small list of such poker supplies that will ensure that your home game ends up being a royal casino experience and not just some random cards game:

Poker Chips:

For poker enthusiasts, poker chips for a poker game are a must among various poker supplies. For any home poker game, or a poker tournament, or in case you want to host your game at home, it is essential to own a proper set of poker chips. If you own a decent set, everybody will appreciate the feel and look of quality chips. A decent set will offer a professional touch to the environment of a home game.

There is a wide range of poker chips with different characteristics available in the market. You will find poker chips made in clay and ceramic, and there is no limit as far as their different weights, feels, designs or sounds are concerned. Normally, a set of 500 poker chips is recommended for a game of 10 players.

Playing Cards:

Quality playing cards can actually make a huge difference in your home poker game and add a lively touch to it. Playing cards vary in their feel, appearance, and durability. The two most commonly seen types of playing cards are paper (plastic-coated) cards and plastic cards. The plastic-coated cards are very typical that can be found in any store or tournament. They are quite cheaply priced but will not last very long for sure. The plastic ones are much more flexible and durable.

Poker Table:

Now that the poker chips and playing cards have been taken care of, it is time to arrange something which will allow you to sit with your friends and play the game! So the next thing you need to do is pick a nice, decent poker table. Obviously, using your kitchen table is not going to give you the feel of a professional game of poker!

Your friends and players are sure to appreciate the feel and look of a good poker table. A nice, quality poker table can add that professional touch to the setting of your home game and offer a serious environment of a tough Texas Holdem Tournament.

Poker Prints:

So, now you are ready with all the essential accessories required for your home game of poker. Well, why not go about creating some nice poker ambiance in your room and make it appear more exciting and lively? If you ever visit a famous casino like Las Vegas, you will find the poker room to be extremely cozy, impressive looking, and comfortable. The different paintings and other hangings you frame on your poker room walls can do a lot to add to the décor and liven up the atmosphere.

Poker is a bold of chance. You comedy the duke you are dealt and the accomplished wins. So how can you advance your allowance in such a game area your duke depends on the cards you hold? There are several strategies acclimated to do this.

Though there are abounding altered poker variants, that is, different types of poker games, anniversary with a hardly different set of rules, the accepted concepts abide the same.

Even admitting the bold is based on luck, there are tips you can use to advice advance your duke and apperceive how to comedy alike the bad ones. Remember, it is a bold of chance, so alike if you accept a bad hand, there is still a adventitious you could win should you implement a address such as bluffing, or use a different strategy.

First accumulate reading. There are assorted books accessible on poker, hand strengths, and strategies, abounding of which were accounting by pros. These bodies accept been there and apperceive what it takes to be successful. They accept additionally been on both sides, so can provide both angles. The added advice you arm yourself with, the better off you’ll be in the continued run.

Next, comedy the bold often. Admitting repetitively arena the same game can assume to be boring, it will advice you use the information you acquired back account about it. Back you read, you will learn how to advance your game, as able-bodied as apprentice why added players play the way they do. Back you play, you’ll see how that works.

Use your ability to accretion more. Admitting you accept the “textbook” perspective, so to speak, there is still annihilation like the true experience to apprentice how it absolutely works.

Next, comedy for keeps. If you are austere about arena to win, and ambition to comedy in a ample stakes game, arena at a chargeless table will not get you area you charge to be. Admitting accomplishing so is a good way to apprentice and practice, it will not accord you the practical experience of arena a ample stakes game. This is because when nothing or abutting to annihilation is at stake, bodies aren’t concerned with accident abundant so they aren’t arena to win. Some will even do things such as backbiting for no acceptable acumen because they have nothing to lose by accomplishing so. Instead, comedy with others who are
interested in the aforementioned affair as you, that is, to win. This will teach you how to be added aggressive and accord you a more realistic abstraction of the strategies and techniques active in this type of game.

Lastly, don’t accord up. Everyone will lose, that’s how you learn more about winning. http://www.casinoebooks.com is a review site, concentrating on gambling online, offering advice, information on casinos, sports betting

Poker has a lot of events and personalities that have managed to remain in history. Poker is a game that has captured over time more and more people around the world.

Among those who managed to remain in the history of poker and now remember it, is James Butler Hickok, known as “Wild Bill”. He was born in 1837 and played poker in saloons very much, and his place was in the corner of the room to prevent the enemies to see his cards. In August 1876 James was shot in the back while playing poker in Deadwood. At the moment he was holding a pair of eights and a pair of aces, and this event was called “Dead Man’s Hand”.

Another player who we remember now was Johnny Moss. He started playing poker at the age of 10 when it was learned some tricks by a pack of cheaters. He has traveled far in search of attractive games of poker. He was a very fair man and nobody cheat with him around. He discovered poker at a very early age and became a professional player. In 1940 he played with Nick „The Greek” on a tour that lasted 5 months. Awards were between $2 million $ 4,000,000, and was organized by Benny Binion. Poker is known now because of these players and led to the creation of The World Series of Poker. During his career, Moss was collected 8 WSOP bracelets and he was at the 4th place after Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth. Johnny was named „Grand Old Man of Poker” and in 1979 was passed into the “Poker Hall of Fame”, in his honor. Also in his honor, the pair of I-10 Texas Hold’em book was called „The Johnny Moss”.

Doyle Brunson is one of the most famous poker players in America and was born in August 1933. Throughout his career has lost money until he managed to win a prize of $ 1,000,000 in a poker tournament. Brunson participated in many poker tournaments and all these contests helped to create the legendary men that we know today. In 2008 his earnings were over $ 5,000,000 dollars. Brunson is also the author of the book „Super System” and he opened its own poker room, “Doyle’s Room”, where participants have the opportunity to learn from itself “The Godfother” tricks of poker.

Jeff Madsen is a younger players of poker and in 2006 was chosen player of the year WSOP 2006 because he managed to get 2 bracelets in that year: the first bracelet in the $ 2000 No-Limit Hold’em event and the second bracelet after he defeated Erick Lindgren.

Texas Hold’em is a relatively easy game to learn to play. Instead of the traditional ante, it has two forced blinds, the small blind and the big blind. Texas Hold’em game play starts with the player to the immediate left of the dealer posting the small blind, and the player two seats to the left of the dealer posting the big blind. This is done before any cards are dealt. Then each player receives two cards face down. Betting starts with the player directly left of the big blind. This player can call the blind, raise the bet, or fold depending on his or her cards. This action continues around the table ending with the big blind. This is called preflop betting. Texas Hold’em is played with a number of betting structures, the most common being a no limit game, where you can bet you whole “stack” at one time. Although fixed limit and pot limit is also played in casinos and online poker
, and in tournaments.

Once the preflop action is done, Texas Hold’em Game Play continues with the “flop”. Three community cards are dealt face up in the center of the table. Then a round of betting begins with the first player to the left of the dealer that is still in the hand. After all bets are in a fourth community card called the “turn” is dealt in the center of the table, and is followed by another round of betting. Once all bets are placed a final community card called the “river” is placed in the center of the table, and is followed by another round of betting. When all betting is done, all remaining players, starting with the first player to the left of the dealer shows his or her cards. The player with the best hand that can be built using both hole cards and community cards wins the pot. If the community cards is the best hand then the remaining players split the pot equally.
Although this is the basic Texas Hold’em game play, it does have variables. Often preflop betting will result in all players folding to a high bet, and no community cards are ever dealt. Subsequently, play can end after the flop, or turn if someone bets high enough, this is one reason no limit poker is so popular. A bold player could push a weaker player to fold, by going “all in” betting all his chips, and thus win the pot without having to see the flop.

While no limit is probably the most popular of the Texas Hold’em game play there is also the fixed limit and pot limit games. In the fixed limit Texas Hold’em game play bets and raises during the first two rounds, preflop and flop must be equal to the big blind. In the next two rounds of betting, the turn and the river bets and raises must equal to twice the big blind. In the pot limit Texas Hold’em game play no player can raise more than the amount in the pot, since the pot grows with each round of betting the amount a player can raise increases with each round.

Trying to have some luck on a casino table is not just mere sitting on comfortable chair watching the cards to be laid down. There are rules to be followed and strategies for a sure win. A veteran poker player knew all about these. And they maximize their strategies to take advantage of the rookie players.

The veterans or masters of that field could easily spot a new comer in that particular field. In a casino table, a poker newbie is not exempted. A veteran poker player could easily determine a poker newbie. Watch out, they will dig every single penny in your pocket.

There are techniques for us to disguise and go along with these master-poker players undetermined.

Be observant

An example mistake a rookie commits is the string betting – a player call a bet and then make a raise. Then followed by familiar action indicating that you are a rookie player. These actions will then use by the matured poker player to take advantage of you during the game. Within the thoughts of this seasoned poker player, he/she is laughing at you and the same time, use some strategies unfamiliar to you through out the game.

The traditional pattern in calling a bet – announce that you are going to raise first before pushing your bet, anticipating the possible raise your opponent might call. Chain reactions will occur. Chances are, you will not be treated as rookie poker player.

Control Your Emotions

A seasoned poker player will determine if your card standing is good or not. By way of body language, through emotions and facial expressions you are showing, a seasoned poker player will know if you will raise a bet or not. This is a disadvantage on your part and an advantage on your opponent.

Incidentally, a rookie poker player will manifest a familiar facial expression on the first time he looks on his cards. The expression that will manifest on your face will show, telling to your opponent if you have good or not good enough cards to bet on.

Furthermore, the first time you look at your cards and you become happy, it shows that you have nice cards to compete within that round, but if you frown and displeased, it shows that you don’t have good cards to play. In addition, you are announcing the status of your cards.

Every veteran on the table can pick a hint on your actions. These actions will be used against you. Even the smallest action of the hand will manifest during the game expressing something, giving additional hints about your cards whether they are competitive or not.

These seasoned poker players knew everything within or around the table. A manifestation of a simple hint of advantage will be of great deal to them. In fact, they are patient in waiting for these hints. Furthermore, they knew every player they had competed before and also remember some anecdotes that had been shown during the game.

Unless you go to casinos just to divert your attention from stressful weekdays, and have some fun and you have lots money to bet on. But every poker player wants to win the game so as persons going to casino, to have some luck.

Every person who succeeded in his or her chosen endeavor had worked hard for it. They exerted extraordinary effort and sacrifices. In the poker game, the word lucky is always mentioned because the luck depends on the cards you receive, yet there are strategies for us to win the game.

You, as poker rookie should remember the ROI (return of investment) that being new in the game, you will loose on the first, second or even on the following game. The same scenario, its just like you are investing on it. On the following games, you will surely win because you’ve learned already the proper protocol of the game.

Although these things don’t assure the possibility that you will loss or win the game, the best thing to do in a first-time situation is to take precaution. Every opponent is looking a point for him to take advantage of the other. Be smart and be the first to find that hole.

What is a Cash Game?

A Cash Game, also known as a Ring Game, is a non-tournament poker game where players buy-in and cash out as they please. The value of the chip is the same as cash. For example, if I sit down with $10 at a cash game. I have $10 in chips.

You can sit down at a Cash Game with as much money as you want – within the limits. At a $0.10/0.25 blinds game the minimum amount is $10 and the maximum amount is $50.00. Other players can sit down with a different amount of chips. You can re-buy chips in between hands up to the maximum.

How many players are in a Cash Game?

At Absolute Poker, all the cash games are 6 or 9 player tables. Other casinos have different amounts – usually up to 10 players. As long as there are 2 active players, there is no set amount of people needed to keep the game going. As mentioned above, you can sit down and get up as you please at any time.

What is a Sit N Go?

A Sit N Go or SNG, is an online poker tournament. The name “Sit N Go” comes from the fact that these games are fast with a clear beginning and end. A Sit N Go has a pre-determined number of players. Once the spots are filled, the game starts. Everyone in a Sit N Go must buy-in for the same amount of money and starts with the same number of chips. The blinds gradually go up in “levels” or “stages” until one player is left standing. The payouts are determined before the game and are displayed when you buy-in.

How many players are in a Sit N Go?

A Single Table Tournament or STT is usually 9 or 10 players. In a game like this, the top 3 finishers would place “in the money”. However, Sit N Go’s can have as many as 50 players (which would be 5 tables of 10) or as few as 2 (heads up). A Sit N Go with more than 10 players is played on more than one table and is known as a Multi-Table Tournaments or MTT.

Generally, the more players in the SNG, the more places are paid and the higher the prize money. Of course, with more players the tournaments are longer and there are more players to beat out.

I will use Absolute Poker as an example. Let’s say you want to play a $10+1 Sit N Go. You buy-in for $10 and pay a $1 entry fee to the casino. The entry fee is usually anywhere from 5-20% of the buy-in at most casinos. In this case it’s 10%.

Each of the 9 players would start with the same number of chips – let’s say 2000. The blinds would start low, usually 10/25. As the game progresses, the blinds will keep increasing to force action.

The buy-ins on a game like this would total $90. That money would get split between the top three finishers. First place would be $45, second place would get $27, and third place would get $18.

How long does a Sit N Go last?

A 9-player Sit N Go will usually last between 30-60 minutes. Some casinos have “turbo” Sit N Go’s where the blinds go up faster. Turbo games finish more quickly. A 2-player Sit N Go, which is really just a “heads-up” match, will often last a few minutes before ending.

No limit Texas Hold’em Sit N Go’s are generally faster than limit Sit N Go’s because of the ability to move “all-in” gets things moving.

How do Sit N Go’s and Cash Games Differ?

The easiest way to understand the distinction is to understand that Sit N Go’s are simply tournaments where players get eliminated. Once you are out, you’re out. In a Cash Game, you can re-buy as much as you want, sit down with as much as you want, and leave whenever you want.

Here are some of the key differences:

• You can buy-in or leave anytime during a Cash Game, whereas you must enter the beginning of a Sit N Go to play.

• Sit N Go’s have a clear start (when everyone is ready) and end (when only one player is left). Ring games are ongoing.

• The blinds go up during Sit N Go’s, so in the later stages you’re forced to loosen your starting hand selection and take risks. In Ring Games, the blinds stay the same.

•	There are a set amount of winners and losers in a Sit N Go. For example, in a 9 player SNG, 3 players will win and 6 will lose. In Cash Games, there is no set amount of winners or losers. You’ve won if you cash out with more than you bought in with.

Which do I prefer?

Actually, I really love playing both, but I play Cash Games more often because of the freedom of being able to leave whenever I want to. Also, it’s usually a quicker way to clear a bonus. But, from time to time I do play SNG’s and MTT’s when I know I’m able to sit down for longer periods of time.

<img src="http://www.buzzle.com/img/articleImages/571323-17med.jpg" width="310" height="207" alt="How Playing Poker Teaches Business Skills" class="ImgBorder"

I have fun playing Texas Hold ‘Em with friends. Did you know that playing the game or watching shows like World Tour Of Poker can help you succeed in business? I didn’t realize that while I was learning to play, I was gaining valuable business skills that have translated into money in my pocket. No, not by gambling money away. Let me show you what I mean. I learned four things from playing poker.

First, I learned how to make the best of the cards I was dealt. I learned when to play a hand, when to take risks, and when to throw the cards away and wait to act with better ones. This kind of discernment helps a business owner make sound decisions about working with assets and when to cut a project loose if it’s not producing good results. I found that when starting your own business, you will invest 2 assets—your time and your money. Depending on where you start, you’ll use one of these assets more than the other. A realistic understanding of which asset you’re working from can help you make the most of what you’ve got.

The second lesson I learned from poker is that you’ve got to use a strategy to win. Good players spend years learning from each other and developing a strategy that’s right for them. Their strategy is reliable and flexible enough to adapt to new situations. They learn something new from each game, and they actively look for the lessons when they lose a hand. They know how much they’re willing to bet in an evening, and they aren’t pushed off course by setbacks because their strategy takes the slow time into account.

The third lesson I learned is that while I must understand the cards I’ve got, I must watch my competition and adjust what I’m doing accordingly. If I have a solid straight in my hand, I still need to watch my fellow players because one of them might have a straight flush. If you only focus on your hand, you may end up broke in no time flat. Even if you’ve got an awesome product, don’t fool yourself into thinking you’ve beaten your competition. In business, there are always going to be people who want to move into your market. People are actively creating new products and services, and yours could be left in the dust if you aren’t paying attention. The difference here is that you may find that good strategies include partnering with your competitors and funding joint ventures. Unlike poker, you both can win.

The last and most important lesson I learned from playing poker is that risk isn’t the four-letter word! Risk is a good thing if you have studied your competition and know you have a good hand. The reality of business is that you will have to do some things you’ve never done before or that make you feel nervous. This is a good thing because you become a better person once you push through your fear of taking a risk. I used to worry about what would happen if I lost a bet. I played to prevent losing instead of playing to win. There’s a big difference between those things. Playing to win means putting yourself out there, letting people know you’ve got a good product or service. Playing so you won’t lose usually results in you losing or barely breaking even because you can’t do the very things that cause your business to sky rocket to the top.

In summary, I learned to use my assets well, implement a winning strategy, to respond to my competition, and to push past the fear of losing. Think about other activities you’ve done over the years. What skills did you learn? How can you use them to build your successful business?
